What do you enjoy most about your job?

Helping to making accurate diagnoses for the proper treatment of sick patients.

What is the most challenging/difficult part of your job and why?

No recognition from Government of this professional body as there is no registeration council for radiographers in India.

How many patients do you help each week approximately?

At present I on teaching and administrative responsibility, so indirectly we help about 375 patients per day/2000 per week in our department, which includes doing radiography, CT, MRI, radiological/interventional procedures, digital radiography and so on.

What is the most memorable or happiest moment of your radiography career and why?

When I qualified with my Master of Science in Radiology with Radio-diagnosis as a special subject in December 1984, in the very same year I got my employment as a tutor technologist in the same institute.

If you could change or improve one thing about your working life, what would it be?

More clinical involvement in making out accurate diagnosis and more stress on research work for innovative ideas in radiography.

Have you ever worked as a radiographer outside your home country? If not, have you considered it?

Never. Yes, I would conside it, but I would still prefer to serve my motherland, except for a short break.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about becoming a radiographer?

Nowadays, this is becoming a more demanding career and there are a lot of opportunities for growth in this profession.

How do you see the role of the radiographer/technologist developing in the future?

A radiographer/technologist of the future would be working fully independently, and will be fully involved in decision making relating to his/her profession wherever he/she works.
